VoltAero signs MOU with Sky2Share for 15 aircraft

VoltAero's customer base for its Cassio family of aircraft has been further expanded with a pre-order of 15 of its electric-hybrid aircraft by Sky2Share, a Swiss-based aviation company that offers fractional ownership and is focused on radically reducing the CO2 footprint of its operations. This commitment begins with the five-seat Cassio 330, while offering Sky2Share the opportunity to incorporate the six-seat Cassio 480 and 12-seat Cassio 600 versions. With this latest agreement, VoltAero now has a total of 218 orders and commitments for its Cassio aircraft line.

218 orders and commitments for the Cassio

VoltAero's airframe configuration for the Cassio is based on an aerodynamically optimized fuselage with a fixed canard forward and a lightweight swept wing with twin beams that support a high horizontal tail. By incorporating VoltAero's patented hybrid-electric propulsion system into the company's specially designed airframe, the Cassio family of aircraft will offer an order of magnitude better performance than the current competition and significantly lower operating costs. The production Cassio aircraft will be built in three versions, each sharing a high degree of modularity and homogeneity. The family will be a highly capable and reliable product line for charter airlines, regional commercial operators and private owners, as well as for cargo, mail delivery and medical evacuation (Medevac) utility services.

The Cassio 330, the first product

The first to enter service will be the Cassio 330, with five seats and powered by a 330-kilowatt electric-hybrid propulsion system. VoltAero's six-seat Cassio 480 will have 480 kilowatts of electric-hybrid propulsion power, while the Cassio 600 will have 12 seats and 600 kilowatts of electric-hybrid propulsion power. VoltAero is headquartered at the Royan-Médis Aerodrome in southwestern France, and its Cassio aircraft will be assembled at a purpose-built facility at the Rochefort Charente-Maritime Airport in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
