This is the first out of an order of 25 aircraft and 5 more options which will be joining the Turkish carrier’s fleet gradually until 2023.
Turkish Airlines’ first Boeing 787-9 will perform its first commercial flight on July 17th between Istanbul and Denpasar (Bali), one of the new routes recently operated by the Turkish airline for its summer program. The Dreamliner will carry on its program during the whole summer toward destinations like London, Dubai, Washington DC, New York, Atlanta, Mexico, Cancun, Bali, Amsterdam, Panama and Bogota. By the end of August, six more Boeing 787-9s will join the Turkish Airlines’ fleet as part of a 30 aircraft order (25 plus 5 options) which will have joined the fleet by 2023.
Turkish Airlines’ Boeing 787-9 has a two-class configuration with 300 seats (270 in economy class and 30 in business class). The business class has a 1-2-1 arrangement, which guarantees a direct access to the corridor for the passengers. Each seat of 1.90 m (76 in) has a one meter pitch between the rows of seats and is convertible into a flat bed at 180°. Each seat is equipped with an HD video display of 45 cm (18 in) with a digital remote control. As regard the economy class, the seats have a pitch of 78 cm (31 in) and a recline of 15 cm (6 in). They will be equipped with 30 cm (12 in) HD screens in the first 6 aircraft and 32 cm (13 in) HD screens for the next ones.
