The fifth prototype of the Chinese commercial single-aisle aircraft Comac C919 took off for the first time from Shanghai Puding Airport on October 24, 2019. The aircraft completed a flight of one hour and thirty-seven minutes.
Comac C919 “105” took off three months after its “sister ship” 104. The C919 105 is the penultimate of the six test aircraft of the Chinese program. This Comac aircraft will be tested in extreme weather conditions: high heat and cold temperatures. It will also perform test flights related to environmental control, power supply. The other four first prototypes conducted test flights in Yanliang, district of Xi'an, Dongying, Shandong province, and Nanchang, Jiangxi province.
The last Comac C919 dedicated to flight test — the 106 — is expected to make its first test flight by the end of the year, before the aircraft launch officially expected in 2021, even though another media mentioned production start by the end of the year.
