Safran to power the Bye Aerospace eFlyers with the ENGINeUS 100

Bye Aerospace, which develops the 100% electric eFlyer family of aircraft, and Safran Electrical & Power announce the signing of a cooperation agreement to equip the eFlyer2 and eFlyer4 with ENGINeUS electric engines.

Two and four-seater electric aircraft

Bye Aerospace intends to certify with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) the eFlyer 2 and the eFlyer 4, 100% electric two-seater and four-seater aircraft respectively, intended for professional pilot training and air taxi missions. Bye Aerospace's entire range of aircraft is currently under development. These aircraft will meet market requirements, including an 80% reduction in operating costs, elimination of CO2 emissions and noise reduction.

Bye Aerospace estimates that the eFlyer will avoid the emission of several million tonnes of CO2 each year, just in the context of pilot training alone. The ENGINeUS family includes a wide range of electric motors with power ratings up to 500kW. The ENGINeUS 100 motors, which will equip the eFlyer2 and eFlyer4, offer a very high level of performance and integrate the motor controller directly into the machine. Thermal management is provided by an optimised air cooling system, jointly integrated into the aircraft structure by Safran and Bye Aerospace.
