Russian Helicopters Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) is presenting two of its newest civilian helicopters — the light multi-role Ansat and the medium-class Mi-171A2 — to potential customers in Thailand during a South Asian Heli Tour. A flying display took place at the U-Tapao airfield on 26th November.
The event was intended to demonstrate key benefits of the Mi-171A2 and Ansat, as well as the system of after-sales support, to Thai operators.
The first deliveries of Ka-32A11BC helicopters to Thailand are scheduled by the end of the year. According to Andrey Boginskiy, Director General of Russian Helicopters Holding Company, potential operators have shown interest in Ansat and Mi-8/17 rotorcraft in various versions.
Thailand already operates the Mi-17V-5 medium utility helicopter.
Southeast Asia is seen as a strategic region for Rostec which plans to actively develop cooperation in various spheres and strengthen relations with key partners in the region, says Anatoly Serdyukov, Industrial Director of the aviation cluster of Rostec.
Russian Helicopters is also establishing a service center in Thailand. A Memorandum of Intent was signed with a local company, Datagate, in February 2018. Fields of cooperation mentioned in this document include assistance in establishing an MRO centre for Russian-made helicopters in Thailand.
