JSC Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) has rolled out two Sukhoi Business Jet (SBJ) aircraft built for the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) under a contract awarded in 2014. The aircraft will provide VIP transportation services for officials and government leaders, as well as for High Command. The two SBJs mark the company’s first business jet sales to an overseas customer.
The version of the SBJ designed for RTAF has three sections: a four-seat VIP area, a six-seat business class area, and a passenger compartment for 50 people. The SBJ is proposed in three different configurations: VIP, Corporate and Government.
The SBJ’s flight range is over 4,500km. The aircraft, including the interiors, were assembled in Russia. In-service maintenance support for the RTAF jets will be provided in Thailand.
In related news, SCAC announced plans to open its first overseas client liaison office, in Beijing. The Beijing office, which is scheduled to open by the end of 2016, will specialize in marketing, promotion, certification and arrangements for financial support of Sukhoi Superjet 100, Sukhoi BusinessJet and SportJet by Sukhoi aircraft sales. Objectives include the creation of a maintenance depot, as well as projects related to industrial cooperation with Chinese companies.
The Superjet 100 recently made its Farnborough Show debut in the colours of European launch customer CityJet.
