Restrictions at EU borders : aeroplane businesses and airports wants to remove the quarantine.

Main european aircrafts Unions (A4E, ERA, ACI Europe and IATA) are reliying on new EASA and ECDC guidelines, who are critical about quarantines.

Main airport and aeroplane business Unions wants to abolish latest restrictions at EU border, including quarantines. European companies of IATA (International Air Transport Association), ACI Europe, A4E and ERA rely on new EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) and ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) Guidelines, who rejected quarantine practice.

« These Guidelines unequivocally show quarantines to be essentially politically-driven, non-risk-based measures which bear no relation to what is actually needed to safeguard public health. Quarantines fail the test of proportionality, a key principle of EU law – particularly since there are no equivalent measures at land borders. This has resulted in unprecedented limitations to the freedom of movement and the freedom to provide services. We call on national governments to immediately abolish their quarantine restrictions and restore freedom of movement for European citizens”, said Olivier Jankovec, Director General of ACI EUROPE.

EASA/ECDC guidelines considers quarantine rule, during two weeks, as efficient only in « exceptional cases », when a country can totally control the virus and reduced transmission risks to zero, and when travellers enter the country while the virus continues to circulate.
