New B777Fs' orders from Qatar Airways and China Airlines.
While Qatar Airways committed for 5 additional B777Fs with a list price of €1.8 billion, the Taiwanese company — China Airlines — announced its intention to purchase 6 B777Fs to modernize its fleet. The latter will operate between Taipei and North America or Europe.
The B777F can fly 9.200 kilometers (4,970 nautical miles) with a payload of 102 t (225 thousand pounds). This will allow China Airlines to reduce technical stops and operating costs in comparison with the B747Fs, about to be replaced.
For its part, Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group’s CEO, explained how this further purchase will increment their cargo operation’s capacity. Qatar Airways is currently operating on 60 destinations with full cargos’ flights in addition to its passengers’ network which already benefits from big cargo capacity.
The Qatari company operates 23 aircraft full cargo — 16 of which Boeing B777Fs — while China Airlines has fleet of 51 Boeings.
With these new orders Boeing increases the number of B777F ordered or already into service up to 217.
