The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed every contract necessary for Tupolev to start the production of the PAK DA (Prospective aviation complex for long-range aviation) — the future long-range strategic bomber. The announcement was made by the deputy Defense Minister Alexey Krivoruchko. According to him, the final design of the PAK DA was approved by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in 2019. The subsonic stealth bomber using the flying wing type configuration has had its study entrusted to the Tupolev design office, which will also be responsible for tests and development of the aircraft, presumably at Zhukovsky, near Moscow. “The characteristics of the aircraft have been agreed upon, all contract documents necessary for the production of samples have been signed, preparatory design stages are underway”, Aleksey Krivoruchko.

The Deputy Defense Minister added that the start of flight tests for PAK DA is included in the 2027 state arms program.
