Airbus withdraws
Airbus has decided to abandon its maintenance center project in partnership with Thai Airways. Representing an investment of € 314 million, this future MRO site was to be located at U-Tapao airport near Pattaya to meet future demand from Asian airlines. The MRO center was to be operational for 2022 or 2023. Despite the disengagement of Airbus, Thai Airways is still seeking to concretize the project. "Otherwise, we will have to give back to the Navy the land that was intended to accommodate the site," said Cherdphan Chotikhun, director of the technical department of Thai Airways. The airline is therefore looking for a new partner and plans to launch a new call for tenders.
