On July 12, the DSCA — a U.S. cooperation agency in defense and security field — approved the sale of helicopters MH-60R to Greece. This FMS now has to get Congress’s approval to be formalized.

The FMS’s price is valued $600 million by the DSCA. The military sale encompasses seven MH-60R Seahawks as well as support and training for crew and technicians.

The acquisition of MH-60Rs by Greece is supported by the USA as it enables to increase interoperability between U.S. forces and NATO’s with the hellenic marine. They can be used for different kinds of missions such as anti-submarine fight and combat mission in marine environment. The MH-60R Seahawk can also be used for supply operations as well as search and rescue operations and communication.

Three-hundred MH-60Rs are currently into service all around the world. Together they cumulate 600,000 flying hours. Among the main operators there are the U.S. with 232 platforms into service, Denmark with 3 platforms and Australia with 24 platforms.
