Long dependent on licensed Israeli UAVs, the Russian industry finally develops long endurance platforms deployed in operation. This is especially the case of Kronstadt which exhibited on the MAKS 2019 Air Show its drone Orion-E deployed in Syria since 2017.

The tactic RPAS is similar to the Watchkeeper, with a range of 24h and a carrying capacity of 200 kg as well as an automatic takeoff and landing device. If the overall system encompasses three UAVs and four shelters, its several sensors enable it to carry out very different missions such as 3D cartography, laser designation, SAR/GMTI imaging as well as Sigint.

Simultaneously, Kronstadt introduced the MALE UAV Sirius which has a range of 40 hours and a payload capacity of almost one tonne. It will carry out surveillance operations of the frontiers and the Russian EEZ (exclusive economic zone) in the Arctic and the Pacific.
