Liebherr-Aerospace is developing an air supply system for high-powered fuel cells to power Airbus demonstration aircraft.
A fuel cell air supply system
Liebherr-Aerospace is developing an air supply system for the fuel cell for Airbus' hydrogen demonstrators. At the end of the first study phase, Liebherr-Aerospace designed and delivered a functional 1 MW air supply system demonstrator, which is currently being tested in the Airbus test facilities.
Design and qualification of a demonstrator
The second phase of study underway aims to design and qualify an air supply demonstrator that complies with flight safety standards and is adapted to integration constraints, in an operational environment close to the propulsion system. This demonstrator will be at the heart of a flight test campaign that should validate the performance of a fuel cell propulsion system under operational conditions by 2025.
