On the occasion of the IDEX show, the UAE consortium EDGE presented a number of systems, including a family of remotely operated ammunition.
Multi-rotor ammunition.
The Edge consortium, launched at the Dubai Airshow 2019, took advantage of the IDEX show to unveil a wide range of systems. Among the solutions unveiled on the first day of the show was the QX family of remotely operated multi-rotor ammunition. "With the launch of the first remotely operated ammunition family designed in the UAE, EDGE marks a significant milestone as a producer of key technologies and by doing so strengthens the country's autonomous capabilities," said His Excellency Faisal Al Bannai, CEO of EDGE.
QX Family.
EDGE has not confined itself to a remotely operated munition, but has unveiled a complete family of four systems. The QX-1 corresponds to a micro UAV, the QX-2 to a mini UAV, the QX-3 to a small UAV and the QX-4 to a hybrid fixed-wing UAV with vertical takeoff and landing. All of them incorporate artificial intelligence algorithms to target and strike the target, defined by the operator via the control station.
Shadow family.
At the same time EDGE also presented the Shadow family of remotely operated ammunition, based on the Shadow 50 and Shadow 25 systems, capable of carrying a 50 and 25 kilogram payload respectively.
The consortium struck a blow for IDEX by unveiling numerous systems. In addition to UAVs, Edge member Halcon unveiled the first UAE-designed surface-to-air missile and the first UAE-designed cruise missile.
