Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation and Rockton AB, a regional aircraft leasing company based in Sweden, have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for an order of ten firm MRJ90 regional jets with an option for an additional ten aircraft. The companies say a definitive agreement will be concluded in the near future.
Rockton is the first European company and the second lessor, after Aerolease Aviation, to select the MRJ. Deliveries to Rockton are scheduled to commence in 2020. Florida-based Aerolease Aviation signed an LOI for up to 20 MRJs at the Singapore Air Show in February.
Hiromichi Morimoto, President, Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, said he thought the Rockton order would give new momentum to European sales efforts.
The MRJ order book features a total of 407 aircraft to date. Once the Rockton and Aerolease Aviation orders have been confirmed, the total of 447 aircraft will include 243 firm orders with 180 options and 24 purchase rights.
