The contract for 12 new CH-47Fs continues a long-standing partnership and will provide the Egyptian Air Force with advanced multi-mission helicopter capabilities. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026.
12 CH-47Fs for the Egyptian Air Force
The U.S. Army has awarded Boeing a contract to produce 12 new CH-47F Chinooks for the Egyptian Air Force. Through this $426 million foreign military sale (FMS), theEgypt will replace its fleet of CH-47D aircraft with the modern F-model, and benefit from its advanced multi-mission capabilities. "The [Chinook] F-model will enhance Egypt's Chinook capabilities and help it effectively meet its heavy-lift objectives," said Ken Eland, vice president and program manager for the H-47.
From D to F and even F+
The CH-47F is an advanced multi-mission helicopter for the U.S. military and international defense forces. Il contains a fully integrated digital cockpit management system, a common avionics architecture system flight deck and advanced cargo handling capabilities complementing the aircraft's mission performance and maneuverability characteristics. Boeing previously announced it is working on an F+ version, with re-engining to match, adopting the T55-GA-714C turboshaft engine, or rather turboshaft engines since the Chinook is twin-engine.
