A new stakeholder in the defense industry appears a few days before the opening of the Dubai Airshow 2019. The conglomerate Edge was officially launched by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyane, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces. The new entity absorbs the activities of the different structures that previously existed in the segment: Emirates Defense Industries Corp. (EDIC), Emirates Advanced Investments Group (EAIG) and Tawazun Holding. This reorganization or rationalization within the Edge conglomerate gives a set of now 25 entities or subsidiaries whose different know-how are organized around five clusters: platforms and systems; missiles and weapons; cyber defense; electronic warfare and intelligence; and mission support. ...... Awareness for technological innovations will not be limited to the levers of local know-how. It also involves partnerships with key American and European stakeholders in the defense sector. Therefore, the 2019 edition of the Dubai trade fair should logically be an opportunity to announce partnership agreements with large groups but also with stakeholders of the small and medium-sized entreprises segment.
