Following the recent inauguration of the new terminal at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is well on track towards achieving its growth targets in the aviation sector.
In the Dubai Airshow 2019, the stands of the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), and the Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI) will be side by side. Both entities must be the tools of the economic diversification of the Kingdom. SAMI is in charge of gradually establish “a location of 50% of military expenditure” while GACA is responsible for reaching a total of 100 million passengers transiting through all Saudi airports by 2020. This target has already virtually been achieved. The GACA announced in March 2019 that 99.86 million passengers (national and international) had transited Saudi airports in 2018. These figures are to be compared with total air traffic of only 47 million passengers as recently as 2010!
……..Concomitantly to modernization and extension of airports, the Saudi airlines upgrade their capacity…….
