Whilst the ink from Emirates' order for 50 Airbus A350-900s was barely dry, Airbus signed a second contract for 120 A320neo family aircraft with Air Arabia, in the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2019. The first low cost airline of the Middle East has formalized its order for 73 A320neos, 27 A321neos and 20 A321XLRs one hour and three minutes after that of Emirates. Air Arabia is already an operator of the Airbus A321LR, the version of the A321neo able to range 4,000 NM with 206 passengers on board. The Airbus A321XLR can reach up to 4700 NM. Air Arabia expressed a need for 100 to 120 medium-haul aircraft a few months ago. The airline has decided to make the leap at the Dubai Airshow 2019. Still, to be determined whether this order is part of the joint venture with the Etihad Aviation Group, to create a low cost airline at Abu Dhabi completing Etihad Airways which is in competition with Emirates and Flydubai.
