Brazilian VIPs choose Leonardo Helicopters

Leonardo receives five orders including AW109 Trekker, AW109 GrandNew and AW169.

South America’s largest business aviation expo LABACE 2019 was the occasion for Leonardo to consolidate its presence in the Brazilian VIP helicopter market. The Italian manufacturer received orders for a total of five units valued at approximately 30 million euro. ICON, the official distributor of Leonardo’s AW109 Trekker in Brazil, has signed firm orders for two units in VIP configuration. Meanwhile, the rotorcraft manufacturer will provide a third AW109 Trekker to a private regional operator while a second operator asked for the GrandNew helicopter version of the type. As for the last order, Brazil will welcome its fifth AW169 VIP configured of 2019. The intermediate twin helicopter will join a further eight units in service across the Americas by then for VIP and EMS roles.

With these orders, Brazil confirms its interest in Leonardo helicopters’ portfolio. Indeed, over 170 helicopters fly in Brazil and more than 220 in South America.

Besides, over two hundred AW169s have been sold to customers worldwide to date to carry out VIP/Corporate transport, EMS/SAR, law enforcement, offshore transport, electronic newsgathering, firefighting, utility and for government/military duties. For its part, the Trekker perform roles such as VIP/corporate transport, EMS, utility and Law Enforcement. Over sixty units of the light twin rotorcraft have been sold to customers worldwide to date.
