Boeing Board of Directors separates the roles of chairman and chief executive officer.
On October 11, Boeing announced its Board of Directors has decided to separate the roles of chairman and chief executive officer. The board elected David L. Calhoun, current independent lead director, to serve as non-executive chairman. As for Dennis A. Muilenburg, he will continue to work at Boeing as CEO, president and a director. The aim is to enable Muilenburg to better focus on the Boeing 737 MAX crisis. The Boeing CEO is also in charge of implementing the changes issued by the Board of Directors at the end of September, to sharpen the company’s focus on product and services safety. Calhoun specifies: “The board also plans in the near term to name a new director with deep safety experience and expertise to serve on the board and its newly established Aerospace Safety Committee.”
