Eight Asia Pacific low cost carriers (LCCs) have joined forces to form Value Alliance. The eight airlines — Cebu Pacific (Philippines), Jeju Air (South Korea), Nok and NokScoot (Thailand), Scoot (Singapore), Tigerair Singapore, Tigerair Australia and Vanilla Air (Japan) — describe the grouping as the world’s first pan-regional LCC alliance.
The airlines offer access to a Singapore-centred network of more than 160 destinations from 17 hubs across Australia, North Asia and South East Asia, covering “one-third of the world”. In 2015, the airlines collectively served more than 47 million travellers with a combined fleet of 176 aircraft.
The intiative follows the launch of the U-Fly Alliance — a similar arrangement bringing together four Chinese LCCs — earlier this year.
Travellers will be able to book flights offered by any Value Alliance partner at the most competitive fare when they visit any member website. A key element in the operation will be Air Black Box (ABB) technology enabling individual airlines to sell connecting fares from Alliance partners in a single transaction. Customers will be able to book ancillary choices such as seat and meal selection, variable baggage allowances and other inflight feature.
