The conference will focus on Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP 2016), which sets forth the Government of India’s vision for boosting domestic Defence & Aerospace manufacturing. DPP 2016 features significant new features, including: introduction of an Indigenously Designed Developed and Manufactured (IDDM) procurement category, which has been accorded top priority; special measures to promote micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs); provision of funding or assured orders through Make projects; clearly defined Indian vendors; simplification of procedures; shortening of procurement cycle and so on.
“Indigenisation” will be the main theme of AMICOM 2016, with Optronics and Electronics as the sub-theme. The conference will provide industry with a comprehensive insight into the maintenance requirements of Indian Army equipment, the challenges faced and the opportunities offered to industry. The conference will also discuss the challenges posed to equipment readiness by the fast pace of obsolescence in the field of ‘Optronics and Electronics’ and how it impacts the availability of spares and components which are required for the maintenance of communication equipments, sights, surveillance and fire control systems, radars and missile systems and a host of other equipment which employ such technologies.
