Airbus Helicopters logged gross orders for 413 helicopters (net: 381) in 2018 (up 18% from 350 gross orders in 2017), maintaining its lead in the civil & parapublic market while reinforcing its position in the military market. Deliveries dropped for the second year running (356 vs. 409 in 2017).
During the year, the company booked 148 orders for light twin-engine helicopters of the H135/H145 family — up from 105 orders in 2017 — and secured an initial 15 orders for the next-generation H160. Orders for the company's light single-engine H125/H130s also picked up (195 vs 168 the previous year.
At the other end of the product range, the Super Puma family saw orders dip from 54 in 2017 to 17, while the H175 boosted its total orders by just four machines, after booking 19 orders the previous year. Dauphin orders were flat (5 vs. 4 in 2017).
As of 31st December 2018, the overall backlog stood at 717 helicopters, compared with 692 units 12 months previously.
