The Bundeswehr entrusted Airbus Helicopters and Elbe Flugzeugwerke with the NH90s’ maintenance, including the 18 rotorcraft of the German Navy. A 10-year contract involving 100 helicopters.
Nice contract for Airbus Helicopters and Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW). The Bundeswehr entrusted the two companies with the NH90s’ maintenance. The 10-year contract — which value was not specified — involves 100 helicopters. Indeed, among the 100 helicopters, 82 NH90 TTHs will belong to the German Army — which is still expecting 8 of them, scheduled to be delivered by 2021 — while 18 NH90 NTHs will belong to the German Navy whose rotorcraft should start to be delivered as of October 2019. Work will begin at Airbus Helicopters in Donauwörth during the first quarter of 2020 and at Elbe Flugzeugwerke in Dresden in early 2021. The services to be rendered under this contract comprise scheduled maintenance, 1,200 flight-hour inspections as well as on-demand repairs. The service package offered by Airbus Helicopters and EFW is based on a new concept that has already been implemented with other NH90 users.
