AirAsia’s first Airbus A330neo

AirAsia just received one of two Airbus A330neo that will be operated by its subsidiary AirAsia X Thailand.

AirAsia — AirbusA330neo launch customer for the Asia-Pacific market — just took delivery of a first aircraft. The low-cost airline expects one more A330neo by the end of 2019. The two Airbus aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, are provided by the lessor Avolon. These A330neos will be operated by the Malaysian airline’s long-haul affiliate AirAsia X Thailand. The aircraft features 377 seats in a two-class configuration, comprising 12 Premium Flatbeds and 365 economy class seats. The A330neo will be based at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport in Thailand. The new aircraft will supporte the airline’s growth and network expansion plans to Australian, Japanese and South Korean markets. Indeed, AirAsia X also made a firm order of 66 Airbus A330neos with 34 further options. The whole A330-900s will join AirAsia X’s fleet already composed of A330-300.
