Air India also announced in April plans to lease six 787-9s.
The carrier operates the 787 Dreamliner to all its destinations in Europe and to other cities in the Gulf, Asia and Australia.
Its 787-8s are configured to carry 256 passengers in two classes: 18 in Business and 238 in Economy.
