Air Antwerp sets up and gets its AOC and a first aircraft with which it will serve London-City airport.
The newly founded Belgian airline Air Antwerp got its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority. The Antwerp-based regional airline will start operating flights connecting London City Airport to Antwerp airport as of September 9, 2019. The Belgian airline — which recently received its designator codes (IATA: WP (whisky papa); ICAO: ATW; ICAO Callsign: Devil) — will operate three return flights per day on weekdays and one return flight each Sunday. The flights will be performed with the recently delivered Fokker F-50 turboprop registered OO-VLS which has a capacity of 50 passengers.
Johan Maertens, CEO of Air Antwerp, explained the purpose of this route: “Business travellers will finally be able to fly again from the centre of London to Antwerp. Also for the Antwerp business world – in particular the diamond industry and the port community – it is good news that there is again a direct link to the London Docklands.”
Furthermore, Air Antwerp has signed a codeshare agreement with one of its two shareholders: KLM — the other one being CityJet.
