Russia’s United Engine Corporation (UEC), part of the Rostec State Corporation, is planning to hold talks with the representatives of the Indian armed forces, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and other potential customers during Aero India 2017.
The company says it wants to enhance the volume of engine deliveries to India, reinforce customer support and explore participation in engine projects for future Indian aircraft.
UEC is currently building direct relationships with Indian customers – primarily the Ministry of Defence and HAL. For example, in 2015 UEC was registered as an authorized supplier of the Indian Air Force and Navy, as well as of HAL.
Large-scale cooperation between UEC and India is currently focused on engines for military aviation. The biggest project is the ongoing delivery of AL-31FP engine kits for licensed production in India under the Su-30MKI fighter programme. UEC is also seeking to promote its civil engine programmes.
The UEC stand (А 2.3.4, Hall А) will feature:
- the PD-14 “fifth-generation” civil engine for the Irkut MC-21 single-aisle airliner, to be offered as a Russian alternative to the Pratt & Whitney PW1000G. The engine – the first new civil turbofan engine to be built in Russia since the Soviet era – is currently in the second stage of flight testing;
- the AL-41F-1S combat aircraft engine, a 4++ generation turbofan engine with afterburner and thrust vectoring that powers the Su-35S multi-role fighter;
- the new VK-2500PS helicopter engine, the latest modification of the widely used VK-2500 engine offering extended service life and full authority digital engine control system for improved performance.
- the BARK-88 digital engine control system which features on modernized RD-33MK engines currently being delivered for Indian Navy MiG-29s. The system is being shown for the first time.
