French aerostructures and systems specialist Latécoère has officially inaugurated a new factory in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Latécoère has officially inaugurated a new factory in Plovdiv, Bulgaria — another step in the French aerostructures and systems specialist's Transformation 2020 programme, which aims to accelerate the digital transformation process within the company.
The inauguration ceremony took place on 12th September in the presence of Latécoère CEO Yannick Assouad and Bulgarian prime minister Boyco Borissov.
The new facility, which will assemble avionics cabinets and aerostructures sub-assemblies, aims to bring added value back in-house by offering a competitive assembly solution that complements the company's existing sites in France and the Czech Republic.
The 9,000m2 factory (5,000m2 in the initial phase) is targeting 200,000 hours of production by the end of 2019. The total investment in the new plant through 2020 is around €15m. First deliveries took place in early September.
The new facility follows closely on the inauguration of the company's flagship “smart factory” in Toulouse-Montredon in May.
