Boeing rolls out 787-10

The Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, the third member of the 787 Dreamliner family, made its debut on 17th February at Boeing South Carolina. The event was attended by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The 787-10, the longest model of the Dreamliner family, features an 18ft (5.5m) stretch compared with the 787-9. The aircraft went into final assembly in December 2016. The 787-10 – which, unlike the other members of the family, is built only in South Carolina – is expected to make its first flight in the coming weeks.

Singapore Airlines is launch customer for the 787-10. The carrier recently added an additional 19 aircraft to its initial order for 30. Deliveries are due to start in 2018.

The aircraft makes its appearance at a time when the widebody market is losing momentum. Prior to the recent order for Singapore Airlines, the last 787-10 orders came in 2015, when All Nippon ordered three and EVA Air, 18. There were no orders in 2014 either.

The aircraft has won a total of 168 orders from nine customers to date.
